Service Description

Garwood Field Trips to the Orchard include the following. Price is for ALL attending chaperones/parents and children. Paid on arrival. No charge for school faculty/bus drivers. TOUR DATE is NOT confirmed until you receive a personal confirmation via phone or email. Call or Text 219-363-8060 to confirm. We offer educational field trips for preschool-5th grade students, starting the first week of September, and running until mid October. Tours are available Monday through Friday, and last approximately 1.5 hours. The tours begin between 8:30a.m. – 12:00 p.m.,and can be adjusted slightly as need for the group. Each tour can accommodate a maximum of 150 people (with a call to confirm group size). The required minimum tour size is 20 people. The tours are adjusted based on grade level and will include the following: A narrated, tractor drawn wagon tour of the Orchards being harvested Discussion of how apples grow including what we do to maintain our trees A stop at our “hail cannon”, the only one in this area A stop in Orchard for each person to pick a small bag (we provide the bags) Of apples from our trees A stop at the “pumpkin patch” to discuss how pumpkins grow A stop at the pumpkin pavillion for each person to pick a small pie pumpkin A narrated walking tour of our retail store and packing facility A freshly made donut and cup of pasteurized apple cider for each student Our goal is to make an entertaining and educational tour for both students and adults alike. Hopefully, everyone will learn a little about the fruit farming industry. To schedule a tour for your class: Choose a tour date, time, attendee count.
